Data Science, global business, management and MBA

Day 40 in MIT Sloan Fellows Class 2023, Fall term Day 1 : learning plan

Today is the first day of my fall term and I will take 66 units( max of available units for me) of lectures this fall term.

My learning pillars

I developed my data science skills and communication skills in multicultural circumstances, but I want to jump out of my comfort zone in this program and want to equip myself with different skill sets.

  1. International leadership
  2. Finance ( M&A, modeling, project valuation)
  3. Entrepreneurship

Firstly, international leadership is what I am really eager to develop. This is not a single answer. In my definition, true international leadership is trying to unleash my management skill with my personality by adapting communication styles in different cultures.

Secondly, for agency groups, finance is a key skill for management because our growth has been driven by M&A and financial valuations and incentives are one of the most important schemes I need to learn.

Thirdly, due to the decline of agency business(all the industries try to skip "middle person"), I need to find a new potential revenue source. Entrepreneurship from ideation to finance is the essential business activity for us to survive in the industry.

Expectations for each course

15.387, 11.159, and 15.390 are about entrepreneurship and how to commercialize crazy inventions from an unbelievable idea.

15.401 and 15.414 are basics of finance and I will equip myself with fundamentals before diving into deeper M&A topics in the spring term.

15.S08 is a combination of my original skillset, data science, and finance. I think this course can navigate me understand finance concepts in practice.
